香村英史

Kamura Hidefumi

Mr. Kamura was born at Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture. His mother, a piano instructor, taught him classical piano from an early age. At 17, he moved to Okinawa, the original home of his family. Upon graduating from High School, he work with a "big band" at the Kadena Airmen's Club for four years, deciding to make jazz music his profession.

He performed in clubs with many well-known artists until 1980, when he opened his own jazz club, called "Kam's House," at Makishi, Naha City. He teaches privately and makes guest appearances with other military bands, such as the Southwest Air Composite Band. Mr. Kamura is an officer with the Okinawa Jazz Association.

神奈川県横須賀市生まれ。母親(ピアノ講師)のすすめで年少の頃よりクラシックピアノを習う。17歳のときに両親の出身地である沖縄に移住。高校卒業後にアルバイトで嘉手納エアーメンズクラブ・ビッグバンドに4年間在籍。ここでジャズと出会い、心酔してプロ・ジャズピアニストの道を選ぶ。

その後、Aサインクラブや各種イヴェント等に出演しながら腕を磨き、内外の一流ミュージシャンと交流。1980年那覇市牧志にジャズ・ライヴハウス『カムズハウス』をオープンし、若手の育成に励んでいる。2000年に南西航空音楽隊の定期演奏会への2回の賛助出演、2001年1月にも第15回定期演奏会『新春! ジャズ&ポップスコンサート』への賛助出演など、公の演奏が目立っている。
